Certain online mattress retailers engage in false and misleading advertising when they display “original” prices for mattresses. The false and misleading advertising typically crosses out an “original” price and displays alongside it a “sale” price. But the “original” prices are fictitious and artificially inflated to trick consumers into believing that the sale offer has more value. Many of these websites also include countdown timers to mislead consumers into believing that the sale offer is limited in time, where in reality, the sale will be offered perpetually.
